2009 Festival Films
The great director Federico Fellini once said, “Going to the cinema is like returning to the womb; you sit there, still and meditative in the darkness, waiting for life to appear on the screen.”
This April, prepare for your rebirth.
The Tallahassee Film Festival has broadened its scope, culling some of the best films from around the globe and a host of indie hits from the States. We’ve got Cannes’ award winners, Sundance hits, South by Southwest hits, Toronto hits and some of the most compelling documentaries on some of the most unusual topics; we’ve got some of the funniest, creepiest, scariest, saddest (and whatever other adjective you can think of) films lined up for you this year!
So mark your calendars now for the three nights and two days in April that you’ll be talking about for the rest of the year.
Films like Tulpan, The English Surgeon, I Sell the Dead, The Immaculate Conception of Little Dizzle, Courting Condi, TOKYO!, A Deal is a Deal, The Gynecologist, 12 Stones, In a Dream, The Inheritance of War, Carrot Cake Conversations, Idiots & Angels, Purple State of Mind, Paraiso Travel, Nothing Really Matters, Food Fight, How to Cross a Border, Beholden, Burning the Future, Slaughter, Garbage Dreams, I Am So Proud of You, The Twenty, My Four Inch Precious, The Missing Person, Bohemibot, The Vaudevillian and Next Floor are waiting for you.
We are also pleased to be able to present special screenings you’re not likely to see anywhere else like Chimera, a short film featuring students from FSU’s School of Dance and unveiling a never-before-seen special effect created by two-time Academy Award winner Stuart Robertson (Predator, The Abyss, Ghost)!
Also, join us for a very special evening premiering Tallahassee-based filmmaker Peter Winter’s Piano Sonata of Carlisle Floyd.
Girls - puff up your poodle skirts! Boys - slip into your leather jackets! Come out to the sockhop at Kleman Plaza this year and sing-along to everybody’s favorite film, Grease!
Last but not least, catch Tallahassee-native Aloura Charles’ filmmaking retrospective (complete with an encore of Reservations!) prior to this year’s awards ceremony, during which Ms. Charles will be presented with the our Emerging Filmmaker Award.
See you in the dark!
